Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, at Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya is geared towards fostering technological development, collaboration, and innovation. Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya serves as a satellite center for TEC and functions as an extension or a supplementary center to achieve TEC’s objectives more effectively.
OBJECTIVES
The primary goal of TEC is to build an ecosystem that facilitates technology development within universities. This ecosystem aims to connect researchers not only within the university but also with external entities like other institutes, national laboratories, and the industry. By doing so, TEC aims to streamline processes, provide necessary support systems, and create an enabling environment for technological advancements.
Thus the main objectives are:
Mining of Technologies: The initial step involves identifying and cataloging technologies that are being developed within various laboratories or departments of the university. This could include anything from new materials, software, processes, or any other innovations.
Assessment of MSMEs Requirements: Once the technologies are identified, the next step will be to assess the specific requirements and needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) located in and around the university. This will help tailor the technologies to address real-world challenges faced by these local businesses.
Evaluating Technology Maturity: After understanding the needs of MSMEs, the identified technologies will be then assessed for their maturity level. This evaluation determines whether these technologies are in a conceptual stage, prototype stage, or are ready for commercialization. Such assessments are crucial for prioritizing which technologies have the most potential and require further development.
Market Study/Assessment: With a clear understanding of technology maturity, a comprehensive market study will be conducted. This involves analyzing market trends, potential demand, competition, regulatory considerations, and other factors that could impact the commercial viability of the technologies.
Recommendation for Pilot Development: Based on the market study and technology maturity assessment, recommendations will be made for pilot stage development. This might involve collaborating with established institutions or industries that can provide the necessary infrastructure, expertise, or funding to further refine and test the technologies in real-world applications.
Co-development with Established Entities: Recognizing that collaboration can accelerate the commercialization process, TEC recommends partnering with established institutions or industries. This co-development approach ensures that technologies are refined, validated, and scaled effectively, leveraging the resources and expertise of industry partners.
Making Technologies Market-Ready: The ultimate goal is to transform these technologies into market-ready products or processes. Once the pilot stages will be successful, and necessary refinements are made based on feedback and testing, the technologies are presented to the Department of Science and Technology (DST) as viable products or processes ready for commercialization.
Industry Support through Reports and R&D Assistance: TEC will prepare reports to assist industries in research and development within specific areas of dense industry clusters. These reports could include market analysis, technology trends, and recommendations for R&D focus.
Networking with Technology Development Institutions and Labs: TEC aims to establish and maintain strong connections with various technology development institutions and laboratories. Workshops and Seminars in Collaboration with Industries: A periodic workshops and seminars in collaboration with industries will be performed.
